If You Are Into Supernatural Stories and Legends You Need to Be Listening To and Watching LORE!

In the past few months, one of my favorite things to do has become listening to the podcast LORE, created and produced by Aaron Mahnke. I’ve always been fascinated in the supernatural and I’ve always enjoyed learning about legends and folklore from around the world.

The LORE podcast is 100% focused on these things and I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to each and every episode that has been released. They just suck me right in! Some of them are creepy as hell and I always learning something new that I hadn’t known before. Even stories that I’m already familiar with, the Podcast has managed to include several bits of info that pleasantly surprised me.

This past weekend, an anthology series was released on Amazon based on the podcast that takes six of the most popular podcast episodes and turned each of them into an episode. The series was produced by Aaron Mahnke along with The Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd and The X-Files producer Glen Morgan.

I watched the entire series over the weekend and I absolutely loved it! Each episode was a perfect adaptation of the podcast episodes. One of the things that I loved about the series was how the format was inspired by the same format of the podcast. You get the classic narration from the podcast host Aaron Mahnke himself and he explains the lore behind the story with all the creepy visuals to illustrate the information that is being fed to us.

The series also includes eerie animated sequences and, of course, the main aspect of the series is telling the main story through a live-action dramatized retelling.

The production value of the series is top notch, and the actors cast to bring the characters to life in the episodes were absolutely wonderful. Some of those actors include Robert Patrick, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Adam Goldberg, Holland Roden, Colm Feore and Campbell Scott.

This LORE series is exactly what it needs to be. It’s the podcast brought to life in series form and it’s so much fun to watch!

If you are a fan of the podcast, you’re going to love this series! If you’ve never heard the podcast, the series definitely may seem different from anything you’ve seen before. If you start listening to the podcast, you’ll totally get why the series is the way it is. Once you start listening to the podcast, though, you’ll totally be hooked!

Here are the details for each of the episodes that the podcast tells:

They Made a Tonic

Before we knew how disease spread, medicine was as much superstition as it was science. And in the small New England towns of the 1800s, there is a belief that consumption can only be stopped by making sure the dead are actually dead.

Echoes

Dr. Walter Freeman is the father of the icepick lobotomy. He believes the ten-minute procedure will all but end the need for the mental hospital. He has the best of intentions but winds up creating an entirely new kind of horror story.

Black Stockings

In 19th century Ireland, folklore has a strong hold. Michael Cleary is convinced his wife, Bridget, has been replaced by a fairy called a changeling. And his belief drives him to the most extreme act.

Passing Notes

In 19th century America, at the height of the Spiritualist Movement, a haunted house is not just the stuff of ghost stories. Many believe the dead can talk and, sometimes, will come back from the other side to wreak havoc on the living.

The Beast Within

Werewolves are now movie monsters. But they were once thought to be all too real. In 1589, villagers in Bedburg, Germany, are convinced that a werewolf is killing women and children only to discover the killer is really one of their own.

Unboxed

Robert Gene Otto is a child without friends. That is, until he receives a doll as a gift. He names the doll after himself, Robert. They become fast friends and soon the boy believes the doll is real. But to everyone else...Robert the Doll is a curse.

As a fan of the horror genre and having a fascination with true-life supernatural stories, I'm incredibly excited about this series. It offers some awesome and fun freaky thrills and I really hope that the series gets a second series that will give us more than six episodes.

If you’re not listening to the LORE podcast or haven’t started watching the LORE series, do you’re self and favor and start! It’s the Halloween season, which means it’s the perfect time!
