Illumination Is Developing a DONKEY KONG Film With Seth Rogen

Illumination has announced that they are developing a Donkey Kong stand-alone film with Seth Rogen in the role. The news comes in the wake of Nintendo’s Super Mario movie announcement, which sees a star-studded cast that includes Rogen as Donkey Kong.

The report comes from Giant Freakin Robot (via CB), and the outlet assumes Fred Armisen will also reprise his role as Cranky Kong in the spin-off, but has no confirmation on the news yet.

Donkey Kong first appeared alongside Mario in the Donkey Kong arcade game, released in 1981, and has gone on to become a beloved fan favorite. This news has not yet been confirmed by Nintendo, but it would make total sense for them to go in this direction.
