In 1995 a Young Jordan Peele Created an Anti-Smoking Ad To Make the U.S. a Smoke-Free Country By the Year 2000
Jordan Peele is one of the most popular and most wanted filmmakers in Hollywood right now thanks to his big horror hit Get Out. He’s been on a long road to get to this point and in 1995 the actor and director created and starred in an anti-smoking ad for student advocates who were looking to make the United States a smoke-free country by the year 2000.
The four-minute PSA breaks down why smoking is harmful to people and offers advice for kids on how to deal with the issue. At one point Peele offers an example:
“Kids in one Massachusetts town used to buy cigarettes for machines like this but four school girls put a stop to that by learning about the legislative process and demanding change. …it all started with their teacher who taught the girls about tobacco and the danger cigarettes posed to their friends and family knowing many kids get cigarettes from machines they made a decision to do something about it.”
It’s always fun to come across stuff like this and I just love how 90s it is.
