Kathleen Kennedy Says INDIANA JONES Franchise Could Continue Without Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford’s last ride as Indiana Jones is coming with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which looks like it’s going to be an incredibly fun final adventure for Indiana. While this is the last movie with Ford, there is a possibility that the franchise could very well continue without the character.
This is a major IP for Lucasfilm, so it makes sense that they would want to continue the franchise. At one point, they were taking pitches for a spinoff series, but there are no updates on what that could entail, but it’s something they are still considering.
During a recent interview with Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said: "It's Harrison's last entry. That's how we look at the Indy franchise. I mean, truthfully, right now, if we were to do anything, it might be in series television down the road, but we're not doing anything to replace Indiana Jones. This is it."
Kennedy continued: "There are five movies that Harrison Ford did. And Harrison is so specific and so unique to creating this role. We just, Steven [Spielberg] agrees, we just wouldn't do that."
But, they are open to trying other things with different characters that are set in the same universe. If they do continue to build on this franchise, the one thing that I can get excited about is seeing a show where Ke Huy Quan reprises his role as Short Round, following him on a series of epic archeological adventures!
When Lucasfilm does decide to move forward with the Indiana Jones franchise without Ford, are there any ideas you’d like to see explored?
