INDIANA JONES Video Game Creator Todd Howard Has Been Trying To Get it Made For Over a Decade
There’s a new Indiana Jones video game coming that was announced by Bethesda over two years ago. This is a passion project for video game director, producer, and designer Todd Howard, who has reportedly spent over a decade trying to get this game made.
The game is being made in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and they previously shared the following details: “A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from our studio, @MachineGames, and will be executive produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with @LucasfilmGames. It'll be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!”
Now an internal email has surfaced that was shared as part of the FTC court case into the Xbox Activision deal that sheds some additional light on the project. In the email, Bethesda's head of publishing Pete Hines discussed the project, and in that message, Hines noted that Howard, who is executive producing the project, "has been trying to get this game made for over a decade."
According to Hines, "Todd might be the biggest Indiana Jones fan on the planet. I'm not exaggerating even a little." He went on to say: "Anyone who has seen the pitch has immediately said, 'oh my god, I have to play that game right now.’ It's going to be amazing and we think reaction to the announcement is going to be terrific."
So, it sounds like this Indiana Jones game is really going to be something special. I love the enthusiasm! We don’t really have any story details to share, but it will be an "original" story that is not one tied directly to the Indiana Jones films. This is going to be a standalone Indiana Jones adventure, and I’m excited to see what that ends up being!
