INFINITY WAR Directors Share Their Thoughts on The BLACK WIDOW Movie

Marvel Studio is in full on script development mode for Scarlett Johansson's long-awaited Black Widow movie! To catch up on all that news, click here. One thing is for sure, and that is that fans are excited about what is going to come of this. Now the directors of Avengers: Infinity War have commented on the news, and if you're curious about what they are thinking, Anthony Russo told the Happy Sad Confused podcast that it's "crazy exciting" and Joe Russo added:

"Yeah, we're very happy for that. I mean it's such a rich and interesting character. There's so much to explore with a character whose history was as a villain, and you know, Scarlett does such a good job of playing that character and people are so used to that character that you forget the character's history, and so there's a lot of compelling stories to tell about someone who has a dark past."

Of all the things that I hope Marvel Studios and screenwriter Jac Schaeffer explore, it's Natasha Romanoff's past! I would love to see her backstory finally brought to the big screen because it's pretty freakin' fascinating. Black Widow talked about her past in the novelization of Captain America: Civil War, which reads:

Natasha studied Cap’s expression of resolve. Finally, she said, “In Russia, in the Red Room, there were dozens of us. All girls, all young. We lived together. They let us be friends. Then they dropped us in the tundra, two weeks’ walk from home, with just enough supplies for one of us to survive.”

Cap looked at her, understanding her meaning.

“Don’t let them push us into the cold,” she said.

This is just one of several stories from her past that they could explore. However, I do love the concept of this. It would be a great way to start off a Black Widow movie! Are there any aspects of the character's past that you would like to see explored in the film?

There's no director attached to the project, but if it happens it's probably not going to be released until 2020.
