Insomnia Induced Psychosis Spreads in a Small Town Trailer for the Horror Thriller THIRST
Gravitas Ventures has released a trailer for a disturbing-looking horror movie titled Thirst. The movie is set in a small town where insomnia starts to spread and causes fear and chaos. I remember once when for some reason I could not sleep and it last almost two weeks, that experience was just insane, and felt like I was going completely mad.
In the film, “Insomnia induced psychosis spreads in a small town, leading friends to find refuge at an unused ranch in the country. When the others find out about the ranch a battle for the property takes place and chaos ensues.
The film was directed by Eric Owen, who said, "What happens if something you need to live is also slowly killing you? This is my greatest fear and I had to bring it to the screen. I suffer from insomnia and often wondered if a movie could be made where insomnia spread throughout a small town. I also have a fear of not having clean drinking water (always have a canteen by my side), something that we take for granted in much of the developed world. But as the Western US runs out of water and the city of Austin has had three boil water notices in the last several years (the last of which actually took place on our final day of production), clean water scarcity has become all too real…"
Owen, who is making his directorial debut, was inspired to write this script when he thought, "What if the water was what gave us insomnia and we didn’t know it?' and this set me on my path to writing Thirst."
The film stars Brian Villalobos, Michael Gmur, Scotty Walker, Cynthia Fray, Lori Kovacevich, and Federica Estaba Rangel. Gravitas will release Thirst direct-to-VOD in the US starting September 5th, 2023.
