Inspiring Full Trailer For The Jesse Owens Biopic RACE

Focus Features has released a full trailer for their upcoming Jesse Owens biopic Race, which really looks like an incredible and inspiring movie. Stephan James plays Owens in the film, and from what I can see in this trailer, he does a great job.

Based on the incredible true story of Jesse Owens, the legendary athletic superstar whose quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history thrusts him onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics, where he faces off against Adolf Hitler’s vision of Aryan supremacy. “Race” is an enthralling film about courage, determination, tolerance, and friendship, and an inspiring drama about one man’s fight to become an Olympic legend.

The movie was directed by Stephen Hopkins (Predator 2, Blown Away, The Ghost and the Darkness) from a script by Joe Shrapnel and Anna WaterhouseRace also stars Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Irons, Carice van Houten, Shanice Banton, and William Hurt.

About a year ago John Boyega was set to star in another Owens biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua, but I have no idea where that film stands at the moment.

Race hits theaters on February 19th, 2016.
