Intense New Trailer for MERCY Sees Chris Pratt Take on a Deadly AI Justice System
Amazon MGM released a new trailer for Chris Pratt’s upcomimg sci-fi thriller Mercy, and it cranks the tension way higher than the first look.
Mercy is set in the near future the story is built around an Artificial Intelligence judge that decides a person’s fate. It taps into the same unnerving territory that Minority Report explored but gives the concept a sharp technological twist.
Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, this is his first major Hollywood feature since Profile in 2018, and it feels like he is leaning fully into high-intensity spectacle.
In this world the justice system has shifted to AI driven sentencing and one detective finds himself trapped inside the system he once defended. Pratt plays a man accused of murdering his wife with only ninety minutes to clear his name before the AI Judge seals his fate.
Rebecca Ferguson steps in as the cold and intimidating AI Judge Maddox, adding an eerie presence that dominates the trailer. The cast also includes Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, and Kylie Rogers.
The footage is packed with action and chaos. Car chases tear through a futuristic city while foot pursuits and frantic shootouts escalate the desperation.
The film seems to be aiming for a fast-paced race against time and this trailer leans heavily into that adrenaline. It’s a noticeable step up in intensity compared to the initial reveal and it definitely positions the film as an exciting AI thriller.
Amazon MGM’s synopsis reads: “‘The future of criminal justice is Artificial Intelligence.’ In the near future, a detective (Chris Pratt) stands on trial accused of murdering his wife.
“He has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to the advanced Artificial Intelligence Judge (Rebecca Ferguson) he once championed, before it determines his fate once and for all and sends him to execution.”
Bekmambetov, known for Night Watch, Day Watch, Wanted, and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, brings his signature visual energy to the story. The screenplay is written by Marco van Belle and the film is produced by Charles Roven, Robert Amidon, Bekmambetov, and Majd Nassif.
Mercy will hit theaters nationwide, including in 3D, on January 23, 2026.
