Intense Trailer for Gripping UK Thriller REAWAKENING About a Missing Child Returned
A trailer has been released for the UK-based thriller Reawakening, which follows a couple whose daughter went missing a decade ago, and they’ve never stopped looking.
As the ten year mark hits, they hold a press conference to reinvigorate the search, and someone claiming to be their daughter “returns,” to the delight of the mother, and to the suspicion of the father.
The film stars Jared Harris, Juliet Stevenson, and Erin Doherty. Reawakening is written and directed by Virginia Gilbert, making her second feature film after directing A Long Way from Home.
The full synopsis reads: “John (Jared Harris) & Mary (Juliet Stevenson) have lived with desolating grief & the agony of uncertainty for the past ten years.
“Their only child, Clare, ran away from home when she was fourteen and no trace of her whereabouts has ever been found. When Clare (Erin Doherty) returns, now a young woman 24 years old, Mary is overjoyed.
“But John comes to believe that Clare is not who she claims to be... As old tensions resurface, a gripping search for the truth unfolds.”
This looks like a really fascinating story, and it reminds me of the true case of the 23-year old French man who pretended to be the missing Texas teen in 1998.
He moved in with the family and everything before being figured out by a detective in the case. We will have to see how this story plays out, as it looks like it could go either way.
Reawakening will be released in the UK on September 13th. There’s no US release date quite yet, so stay tuned.
