Intense Trailer For The 4K Restoration of Cult Thriller JACOB'S LADDER
Get ready to descend into madness all over again. Studiocanal has just dropped a gripping new trailer for the upcoming 4K restoration of Jacob’s Ladder, the haunting psychological thriller from 1990 that still chills audiences decades later.
This newly remastered version will arrive this October as a collectible SteelBook release, giving longtime fans a chance to revisit this cult classic in stunning high-definition.
Directed by Adrian Lyne (Fatal Attraction, Indecent Proposal) and written by Bruce Joel Rubin, Jacob’s Ladder stars Tim Robbins in one of his most unforgettable roles. He plays Jacob Singer, a Vietnam War veteran who’s tormented by grief, trauma, and a barrage of disturbing hallucinations.
Set in a gritty 1990s New York City, the film follows Jacob as he tries to untangle the truth from his nightmares, his memories, and his ever-warping perception of reality.
“For the past four years Jacob Singer has been haunted by the painful memory of his time spent in Vietnam. He is plagued by hallucinations. When his former psychoanalyst is killed by a car bomb Jacob thinks he will lose his mind.
“His friend Jezzi also tries to comfort him in vain; only his therapist can calm him. One afternoon Jacob runs into a G.I. from his battalion. This man is also plagued by terrible visions when he is suddenly killed before Jacob's eyes in the same way as his psychoanalyst.”
The trailer highlights the eerie visuals, the surreal editing, and the pounding score by Maurice Jarre, all of which made this movie such a crazy film. With themes that explore grief, PTSD, and the fragile line between life and death, Jacob’s Ladder has long been considered a genre-defining blend of Taxi Driver and The Twilight Zone.
Robbins delivers an incredible performance, supported by a strong cast that includes Danny Aiello, Ving Rhames, Matt Craven, and Elizabeth Peña. It’s a gripping, emotionally raw character study wrapped in a dark and mysterious horror package.
Originally released in 1990, Jacob’s Ladder brought in just under $25 million at the box office but quickly found its audience over time. Now, 35 years later, the film is getting the proper high-definition treatment it deserves.
The 4K version will be available this fall, and fans can get their hands on the SteelBook edition packed with new artwork and bonus features.
If you've never experienced Jacob’s Ladder, or if you're ready to dive back into its nightmarish vision with a crystal-clear upgrade, this release is not one to miss.
