Interesting Video Explains What Goes Into Creating a Movie Trailer To Get Audiences Excited
I’ve got a great video here for you to watch from Vanity Fair that features movie marketing expert and creative director Jessica Fox as she takes us through the interesting process of creating a successful movie trailer. A movie trailer that gets audiences excited about a film and into a theater to watch it.
From the collaborative process that takes place between filmmakers, studios and creative agencies to audience testing, she breaks down how each play a role in deciding how much is shown, what stories are told, and why trailers tease missing scenes from the film’s final cut.
There’s definitely an art to making a great movie trailer. Sometimes they can make a bad or mediocre film look great! Sometimes the trailers are better than the movies they are marketing. I love watching trailers, I’m one of those people that hates missing the trailers before a movie starts.
Years ago I actually participated in an audience testing for a trailer for Guy Ritchie’s Snatch. They actually used a couple of the ideas I pitched to them and it led to me being offered an internship, which was pretty cool.
