Intriguing Rumors About Jedi History and Rey’s Origin in STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII
If you’re looking for some potential new SPOILERS about Star Wars: Episode VIII and some possible information regarding the history of the history of the Jedi and Rey’s origin, then today’s your lucky day!
According to a report from Stormtrooper Larry, who has previously leaked pictures from the production set of the film, a part of the actual script from the movie has leaked online.
The image of the page doesn’t look like a script page at all, and it would have had the name of the script owner plastered over each page, but it is possible that someone could have gotten ahold of it and retyped the page in their own words because it’s definitely not the kind of writing we’d expect from director Rian Johnson. Regardless of whether this is real or not, it still makes for a fun read and is sure to spark up some fun conversations among fans. That’s why I post this kind of stuff.
Before we get into the heavy SPOILER territory, I will tell you that it includes a conversation between Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Rey (Daisy Ridley), and Yoda (Frank Oz). The information provided describes a vision regarding the history of the Jedi Order and gives us a bit of history on Rey and who she might be.
In the scene, Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Council became “arrogant” and that they were hiding a “secret,” which led to their demise. The old Jedi master takes Rey’s hand and shows her a glimpse into the past. They see two children playing near a tree on an alien planet. The boy noticed that he had greater strength and intuition when he was closer to this tree. The girl noticed that the tree also made her brother increasingly angry. One day an argument breaks out between the children, and the boy kills the girl. The boy touches the tree and is “transformed”. He kills his parents and leaves the planet. Meanwhile the girl is revealed to be alive, transformed by the tree as well, using her power to start the first Jedi Order.
The girl explains how The Force can be used for both good and evil. She tells her followers that one day she would return as either a boy or a girl, and that they should train this child. Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Order had been searching for The One (reincarnation of the original founder of the Jedi) for a millennia. When they found Anakin Skywalker and thought that he would bring balance to The Force, the Jedi were “deceived” and the Clone Wars were the result. The scene also shows Rey’s parents, and Luke is not the father. Luke tells her how she was identified as strong with The Force, and how she was supposed to begin her training, but never reached her destination for an unknown reason. In the scene Luke gives Rey a choice, and she has till sunset to make it.
This information lines up with previously released information such as a cool-looking tree (pictured below) that was spotted on the "Ach-To" set of the film. It fits right in with the vision that Luke and Rey experienced. Also, if this rumor is true, it means that Luke is definitely NOT Rey's father, and that Rey is actually an incarnation of the founder of the Jedi Order.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Rey was an incarnation of someone else. In a previous rumor, we were told that she was a reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker. There might be some truth to her being an incarnation of someone else, but only time will tell who that actually is.
Please take this information with a grain of salt, because there’s a pretty good chance that it’s not true. But with any kind of rumor that leaks… you never know.
