Intriguing Teaser Trailer for Oscar-Buzz Drama TÁR Starring Cate Blanchett From Director Todd Field
An intriguing teaser trailer has been released for the drama Tár, starring two-time Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett (The Aviator, Blue Jasmine, Carol, Mrs. America). The film has had a lot of Oscar buzz surrounding Blanchett and the film’s writer and director, Todd Field, who previously helmed the Oscar-nominated films In the Bedroom and Little Children, but has not worked on anything since Little Children was released in 2006.
Plot details remain sparse for the film, but we do know that “Tár is set to star Cate Blanchett as the fictional Lydia Tár, an acclaimed composer who rose to become the first female chief conductor of a German orchestra.” Fittingly, the music of the film is provided by Hildur Guðnadóttir, the Icelandic composer whose 2020 original score for Joker won the Oscar.
The story will reportedly follow Tár during her daily life living in Berlin, leading up to the recording of her latest symphony. The supporting cast includes Nina Hoss, Noémie Merlant, Mark Strong, Julian Glover, Allan Corduner, Sophie Kauer and Sylvia Flote.
I am a huge fan of Blanchett, and this film looks intense, with a Whiplash-type vibe. Check out the trailer below, and get ready to watch Tár in theaters later this year on October 7th.
