INVADER ZIM: ENTER THE FLORPUS is Perfect for Fans of the Show

I didn’t see Invader Zim when it first came out. I was a kid and I don’t even know that I had cable when it first came out. Well, fast forward to several years later when I was in college and a friend of mine recommended that I try it out. It was beautifully random and weird. The story and the art. Well, after about 13 years (almost to the day), Invader Zim is back in a movie on Netflix called Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus. If you enjoyed the show, you’ll enjoy this film.

Enter the Florpus starts with the Membrane house and has Gaz and Professor Membrane having a meal. We’re then shown what Dib is up to and it turns out that he has been constantly surveying Zim’s house and a few other locations so that he will know when Zim returns. Dib has put on considerable weight and it’s not pretty. Zim then finally appears and Dib must go confront him. We’re then given some fun moments of Zim not recognizing Dib and then revealing his plan. The funny thing is that we’re never told how much time has passed. I’d normally say years, but they’re 12 years old which I could’ve sworn was their age in the show.

The rest of the film feels just like an episode of Invader Zim. There’s a lot of weirdness and randomness that happens, but it all works out in good fun. Oh, we also see Professor Membrane take off his gloves!

My one complaint is that a good way into the film, the pacing did seem to slow down, but things picked back up. Overall, if you’re a fan of Invader Zim, you’ll want to watch Enter the Florpus.
