IO Interactive Announces Stadia Progression Carryover Program Launching in January for HITMAN

We’re very close to the official shutdown of Google Stadia. I’m still very upset about it personally. It was a fantastic service that Google self-sabotaged and then blamed consumers when they announced it was coming to a close. Well, if you’ve played some games on the service, some companies have been responsive about finding ways to transfer your progression from games on the service to another platform. Cyberpunk 2077 lets you do this and recently IO Interactive announced that fans of Hitman will be able to do it as well.

If you were playing Hitman on Stadia, there is a solution in the works that will allow a one-time transfer of progress. The Stadia Progression Carryover will let you move campaign progress, XP, challenge status, item unlocks, mastery levels, and achievements to any other supported platform: PC (Epic|Steam), PlayStation, or Xbox. Sadly, the Stadia Progression Carryover isn’t quite ready, but the team is expecting they’ll be able to enable it at least one week before Stadia shuts down on January 18.

When the Stadia Progression Carryover is live, you will need to make sure your Stadia Account is linked to an active IOI Account. This must be done before January 18 or there’s nothing that can be done.

It is also important to note that some things will not be able to move platforms. This includes Stadia exclusive items like the Sunset Rubber Duck, Orange Pinstripe Briefcase, and White Sunset Suit. In addition, leaderboard positions, save games, and created contracts will also not be transferable. Below you’ll find a timeline of when to expect things to happen.

• ASAP: Create an IOI Account and link your Stadia profile. It is absolutely essential that you do this before January 18 2023.

• Important: If you do not link your Stadia Account to an IOI Account before Google shuts down the Stadia servers on January 18 2023, it will be impossible to carry over your progress.

• January 11 2023*: Stadia Progression Carryover will be enabled by IOI, through the existing progression carryover portal.

• January 18 2023: Google Stadia servers shutdown. The exact timing and process is determined entirely by Google.

• February 17 2023, 9am UTC*: The Stadia Progression Portal will be shutdown and it will no longer be possible for HITMAN – World of Assassination players on Stadia to carryover their Stadia progression.
