IRON FIST Star Finn Jones Says The Actors Performed Most of The Fight Sequences in Season 2

One of the biggest weaknesses regarding the way Marvel is handling Iron Fist is the fight sequences. Iron Fist is supposed to be a badass martial artist, so the fight sequences should have been a highlight of the show! But I have yet to see a fight scene involving the character that wows me. Everything I've seen up to this point has been pretty mediocre and it shouldn't be mediocre!

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, actor Finn Jones talked about the fight sequences in Iron First Season 2 and says that the majority of the fights were performed with minimal use of stunt doubles. So the actors did most of the fight work:

"The majority of fights this season, if not all of them, are performed by all of the actors in the show this season and the doubles were used pretty minimally. It was awesome, I had such a great time working with Clayton [Barber] and his crew this year. I kind of miss it to be honest. I think fans will be really excited to see how the fight scenes come out because from what you saw last night, they're awesome."

Hopefully the actors were trained well enough to deliver some great fight scenes because the stunt doubles used in the past sure seemed to drop the ball. To help the actors in their fight scenes, Marvel brought in Clayton Barber, the fight coordinator of Black Panther, and he's said to have approached things differently. His style has previously been described as being old school kung fu. When talking about his training, Jones said:

"Long and grueling. I started training four months ahead of the shooting schedule doing my own thing and when we started, we were constantly training whilst we were filming."

I'll be honest. The fact that the actors are doing most of the fight sequences in Season 2 isn't encouraging. I just don't think that Jones has the ability to deliver the kind of badass martial arts fight scenes that we should be seeing from Iron Fist. I hope we don't get more of the same disappointing fight scenes, but unfortunately, that's probably what we're going to see. Do you think Jones will be able to pull it off?

Iron Fist Season 2 features Danny Rand (Finn Jones) as he fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
Season 2 furthers the transformation of Danny , a character with a fish out of water coming of age story making his way in a harsh new world, battling to work out who he is. This season, Dann y has promised that with Matt Murdock gone, he will step up and protect his city. But a sinister plot twist threatens his very identity and he must conquers his villains to protect the town and people he holds close to his heart.

Marvel’s Iron Fist Season 2 also stars Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Sacha Dhawan (Davos), Tom Pelphrey (Ward Meachum), Jessica Stroup (Joy Meachum), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), and will also include Alice Eve (Mary Walker).

Iron Fist is slated for release on September 7, 2018.
