IRON MAN 2 Quote That Could Have a Bigger Connection to AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS: ENDGAME Than We Realized
Some of the biggest fans of the MCU have been coming up with theories and connections between the movies leading up to their conclusion with next week’s movie, Avengers: Endgame. Today we have a fan theory from comicbook that brings up a conversation that took place in Iron Man 2. Tony Stark visits Whiplash in jail after he attacks a crowd of people, and when Tony asks his why he did it, considering there was no way he would get away with it, Whiplash responded, "If you can make a God bleed, people will cease to believe in him." So he was trying to prove that he could get to Tony Stark, that he wasn’t as indestructible as people thought, and the people who believed in him should know that.
Now we go forward to Avengers: Infinity War, in the scene where Tony Stark and his team are battling Thanos on Titan with little progress being made, but Tony does draw a drop of blood on Thanos. This is laughable to Thanos, as he knows that Tony can’t defeat him. He laughs and says, "All that for a drop of blood?" Obviously, Thanos was mocking Iron Man, but Tony likely didn’t take it that way. He was probably tying it all back to that moment in Iron Man 2, and realized that even if he wasn’t going to be able to defeat Thanos there and then, at least he was able to prove to himself that Thanos wasn’t indestructable, and someday, in some way would be able to be taken down.
What do you think? Do you believe this was a pivotal moment for Tony Stark? How do you think they will take the mad Titan down in the end? (Not a pun on the Ant-Man in Thanos’ butt joke, just a happy coincidence).
