IRON MAN 3's Ty Simpkins Talks About Returning for AVENGERS: ENDGAME and How He Would Love to Suit Up as Iron Lad

It was a quite a surprise for audiences to see the return of Iron Man 3’s Ty Simpkins in the role of Harley Keener at the end of Avengers: Endgame. While it wasn’t a big role, a lot of fans started speculating that he might return to the MCU in some capacity to fill a void left by Iron Man.

While talking to IGN, Simpkins shared what it was like for him to return to the MCU and also said that he would love to suit up as Iron Lad in the future.

"It was so cool coming back. When they gave me the call that I was going to do it, I was freaking out and screaming in the car. At first it wasn't confirmed that I was going to come back and I didn't want to mess it up. So my mom was asking 'What is it? What is it?' and I couldn't tell her!"

When asked why he thinks Harley was invited to the funeral and whether he stayed in touch with Tony, he added:

"I like to think that they did and that Tony was still taking care of him, because for Harley that bond was super close and he was his kind of his only father figure. So that's what I was thinking about in the funeral scene, about how sad Harley would have been."

Yeah, I don’t think Tony Stark would have dropped the ball with this kid. I imagine that he still stayed in the kid’s life and was helping him out.

As for Iron Lad, in the comics the character leads the Young Avengers, which is a film project that has been rumored over the years. When asked if he would be up for playing the character and taking on the mantle, Simpkins said:

"Yes, 100%. I would love that!"

Now, Iron Lad is also a younger version of Kang the Conqueror from the future. When asked if he would be willing to play that villain, the actor said:

"I'd do it, I'd do it. Without a doubt."

We have no idea what Marvel is really planning for the next big MCU story arc, but Kang the Conqueror would be an interesting direction to go. When previously talking about the future of the character Harley Keener in the MCU, Joe Russo said that he wasn’t planting any seeds for the future of the character in the MCU. They just felt he had to be at Tony’s funeral.

"He is a character in Iron Man 3, and he will not appear in the future. Who knows? We just think that he should attend Iron Man's funeral. As for his future, I have nothing to say."

Would you like to see Harley Keener become Iron Lad in the future of the MCU?
