Iron-Man Writers Have Co-Writer Credits on MORBIUS, Sony Reveals

Since the Morbius trailer dropped at the top of the week, fans have been talking about the excitement surrounding the movie, and the interesting twists and turns that fans have gotten to see just in this first look at the film! One exciting aspect of the trailer is the way it tied to the Spider-Man of the MCU.

In one scene, we saw a Spider-Man poster on the street with the word “murderer” written in graffiti across it, which is a reference to the world post-Spider-Man: Far From Home, where in the final scenes Peter Parker was outed as the webslinger by J. Jonah Jameson and blamed for the death of Mysterio. The more obvious tie-in was the final scene, in which we hear and see Adrian Toomes/Vulture (Michael Keaton) talk to Morbius (Jared Leto).

But these aren’t the only ties from the film to the MCU. Morbius is being directed by Daniel Espinosa (Child 44, Life), and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. These were the credits given until the trailer came out. Then on Sony’s official page for the film, Sazama and Sharpless were credited along with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the writers of Iron Man and the upcoming Masters of the Universe.

It’s likely that Marcum and Holloway were hired to help with re-writes as the film is finishing up, but it’s exciting to know they are involved with such a great-looking film. I can’t wait to see this world open up and discover all the connections in it.

Are you stoked? Morbius opens in theaters on July 31, 2020.
