Is Marvel Looking to Get Kenneth Branagh Back to Direct THOR: RAGNAROK?
I've really enjoyed the standalone Thor films in the Marvel universe, and I'm ridiculously excited to see what's in store for Thor: Ragnarok. This one is sure to be the most epic film in the Thor franchise, and it has the potential of being a game changer in the Marvel universe.
The first Thor film was directed by Kenneth Branagh, while the second was directed by Alan Taylor. I thought both of them did a great, but if I was to choose one of them to come back and take on Thor Ragnarok, it would be Branagh. Turns out, there's a chance that this could actually happen if there is any truth to following rumor.
Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood was recently a guest on Popcorn Talk, Marvel Studios may be going back to Branagh to develop the third entry in the Asgardian trilogy, but there is an issue that would need to be figured out to make it happen. He says:
I was hearing that Marvel wanted Kenneth Branagh back for Thor 3. But, he just got an offer to direct MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS at Fox. So, I don't know if it is going to happen or not. They're thinking about bringing him back into the fold.
There's obviously a little hurtle there that they may have to work around if they really do want to get Branagh to jump back into the MCU. It makes sense to bring back Branagh if they can. The guy is already familiar with the mythical universe and characters, and he's an amazing director. If they don't get him, then they'll probably move on to a new filmmaker to the franchise because from what I've heard Marvel didn't have the greatest experience working with Taylor.
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to open on November 3rd, 2017. Would you want to see Branagh come back to bring us some more Thor movie action?
