Is Sony Developing an All-Female 21 JUMP STREET Spinoff Film?

First Sony Pictures announced that they will be making an all-female Ghostbusters film, and now according to the Tracking Board, it sounds like they might also be making a female 21 Jump Street spin-off movie.

According to the report, Comedy Central’s Broad City scribes Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs are developing the script for project. This is just a rumor at the moment, but if it’s actually happening, it’s probably in the very early stages of development.

Their are no plot details to report at the moment, but the story is said to have the same tone of the Phil Lord and Chris Miller movie that starred Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. I guess one scenario could follow the rival undercover team featured in the first movie, who were played by Dakota Johnson and Rye Rye.

This franchise is a huge deal for Sony, so it makes sense that they would want to move forward with a project like this. They are also developing an MIB and Jump Street crossover film, and 23 Jump Street is in development with screenwriter Rodney Rothman taking on the script. Hill and Tatum are expected to reprise their role in both projects.

Do you think an all-female 21 Jump Street film could be a big hit?
