Is THE PENGUIN Setting Up "No Man's Land" Story Arc for THE BATMAN: PART II

We are only two episodes in with Matt ReevesThe Penguin series, and we still have no idea how the story is going to play out and how it will set up the story for The Batman: Part II.

But, one thing that fans have noticed and are talking about is the fact the destroyed Crown Point in Gotham City is referred to as "No Man's Land."

As expected, Gotham City is in a state of chaos after The Riddler's attack on the city, and all of this makes me wonder if the “No Man’s Land” comic story arc will be a big inspiration in The Batman: Part II. After all, Reeves has confirmed that The Penguin leads directly into that sequel.

Batman: No Man’s Land is a great story and one that fits right into the world of Batman that Reeves has created.

Batman: No Man’s Land takes place after Gotham City is devastated by a massive earthquake. The U.S. government declares the city beyond saving, cutting it off from the rest of the country and leaving its remaining inhabitants to fend for themselves.

In the chaos that follows, Gotham descends into anarchy, with different parts of the city being controlled by rival gangs and supervillains such as The Joker, Two-Face, and The Penguin.

Amidst this lawless wasteland, Batman struggles to maintain order and protect the innocent. Gotham’s police force, led by Commissioner Gordon, also attempts to restore justice, though they are often overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the crisis.

Throughout the storyline, Batman faces challenges not only from the criminals vying for control but also from a deeply demoralized Gotham population.

Bruce Wayne’s alter ego must adapt to a new strategy for survival, operating in secrecy and gradually reclaiming territory from the villains. New alliances are forged, and characters like Catwoman and Batgirl play pivotal roles in helping Batman navigate the city's lawless state.

So, with Riddler’s attack on Gotham and the big shift in the criminal underworld, and things spiraling out of control, when we pick back up with Batman’s story, he have to fight to restore Gotham's sense of order and justice.

Only time will tell if this is the direction that the story is going, so we’ll just have to wait see. What are your thoughts on the Batman sequel possibly being inspired by “No Man’s Land”?
