Isabel May in Talks to Join David Corenswet in Skydance Sports Film MR. IRRELEVANT

Isabel May, best known for her breakout role in the Paramount+ series 1883, is in negotiations to join David Corenswet in the Skydance Sports football drama Mr. Irrelevant.

The movie is about John Tuggle, who was given the title after being the last pick of the last round of the 1983 NFL draft. Jonathan Levine (50/50, Warm Bodies) is directing, with Emmy-nominated writer Nick Santora (FUBAR, Reacher) penning the script.

“Mr. Irrelevant” first started in 1976 with the drafting of USC receiver Paul Salata, launching a series of events that have come to be known as Irrelevant Week.

“A handful of players in that draft position have gone on to success, but Brock Purdy has given the moniker a face-lift since he took over starting duties for the San Francisco 49ers, leading them to the Super Bowl after the 2023 season.

While Tuggle’s story is much different then Purdy’s, his story still touches on the notes that make for an ideal movie to add to Skydance Sports’ film slate.

May got her big break on the Yellowstone spinoff series 1883. While it featured such star power as Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Sam Elliot, May held her own and quickly got on the radar of every major studio in town. She is up next playing Sidney Prescott’s daughter in Scream 7.
