ISAURA Looks Like a Gorgeous New Show From South African Studio Lucan

Lucan is an animation studio based out of Cape Town, South Africa and their new project Isaura looks absolutely amazing. According to io9, Isaura is set to be a new television show about a young girl from Mozambique named Isaura. She’s able to breathe underwater and talk to turtles with the goal of saving the planet from pollution and climate change it seems. In addition, the animation is stunning. The team at Lucan uses a combination of 3D environments, hand-drawn characters, and the Unreal Engine to create a gorgeous show.

Sadly, there’s no release date or indication of where we’ll see Isaura show up, but hopefully, it’s not too far out. You can check out the trailer for Isaura below along with a statement from co-creator Clayton Koski.

We are very proud of the excitement Isaura has generated around the world. Isaura presents an opportunity to deal with the increasingly urgent issues of climate change and environmental devastation. We feel that it’s important to show this issue through the lens of those most affected, children. Her journey is both magical and grounded in the real world, and is a celebration of the youth movement for climate change, and the challenges they face.
