IT: CHAPTER 2 Gets a 2019 Release Date!
Warner Bros. is very happy with director Andy Muschietti's adaptation of Stephen King's IT. They are moving forward with the sequel with the original creative team, and now they have announced a release date!
According to Deadline, New Line Cinema will release IT: Chapter 2 on September 6th, 2019! I wish we didn't have to wait that long to see the sequel, but at least fans know that it's coming.
The next chapter of the story will focus on the Losers Club reuniting for the first time 27 years after they beat Pennywise The Clown when they were kids. They are all adults and they've forgotten about what had happened until they are reminded of the promise they made thanks to a phone call from Mike Hanlon, who stayed behind in Derry to keep watch.
It has previously been revealed that Chapter 2 will include more of the interdimensional turtle, it will have a much darker tone, and Mike Hanlon's character will be drastically changed, as he will be a junkie. You can read more about that here.
It'll be interesting to see who they cast as the adult versions of Bill, Ben, Bev, Richie, Stan, Mike, and Eddie. Who would you like to see play these characters in the sequel?
