IT: Chapter 2 Casts Xavier Dolan and Will Beinbrink as Supporting Characters
Two new cast members have joined the cast of IT: Chapter 2. Xavier Dolan and Will Beinbrink will take on supporting roles in director Andy Muschietti's film.
Dolan will be taking on the role of Adrian Mellon. In the book, Mellon was a gay man living in Derry who was attacked by bullies. Beinbrink will play a character named Tom Rogan who was Beverly’s abusive lover in the book and the 1990s miniseries.
This casting confirms that one disturbing scene from the novel will be in the film, and that is the brutal murder of Adrian Mellon's character, before the Losers Club returns to Derry, Maine after 27 years. I assume that Mellon's murder will be used to show that Pennywise has finally resurfaced and will be what brings The Losers Club back together.
The movie recently started production with a great cast that includes James McAvoy as Bill, Jessica Chastain as Beverly, Bill Hader as Richie, Jay Ryan (Beauty and the Beast) as Ben, James Ransone (Generation Kill) as Eddie, with Andy Bean (Here and Now) as Stanley Uris, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, and then there's creepy Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Clown.
The original young cast will also return for the sequel for some flashback scenes. They include Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Nicholas Hamilton.
The sequel is set 27 years after the Losers Club defeated Pennywise The Clown when they were kids. As they've grown up, they've forgotten about what had happened. When bad things start to happen in Derry again and kids begin to go missing, Mike Hanlon, who stayed behind in Derry to keep watch over the town, calls up his old friends and reminds them of the promise they made to come back and stop it if it ever came back.
Warner Bros will release the film in theaters on September 6, 2019.
