IT Director Andy Muschietti Is Still Developing an Adaptation of Stephen King's THE JAUNT

It director Andy Muschietti isn’t quite finished playing in Stephen King’s playground of horror yet. He is still developing an adaptation of the author’s horror short story, “The Jaunt.” The story was included in King’s collection of short stories, Skeleton Crew, and it’s being produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment.

The story takes place in a world in which teleportation, or "jaunting," is a common practice, though people who use the method of travel must be under anesthesia. While jaunting is essentially instantaneous in the real world, if you're awake during the process, you experience nothing but motionless whiteness over hundreds or even millions of years, which - as you might expect - drives people totally insane when they finally emerge on the other side.

During an interview with Consequence of Sound, Muschietti shared that he is still working on the project. It was announced that he would direct it around the same time that he jumped on board to direct It:

“We tried to crack it and now we finally have a writer that can do it. I would love to. It’s tough to crack because it’s such a great short story, and then you have to expand it into a great film narrative. It took a while, but now I think we got it. I don’t want to tell too much."

That’s great to hear! If you haven’t read The Jaunt, you should check it out. It’s a great story, and it’s not hard to imagine it being adapted into a feature film. I can’t wait to see what Muschietti and his team have planned for it!
