IT Director Andy Muschietti Wants to Remake THE HOWLING

During Comic-Con this week at the It: Chapter 2 presentation, director Andy Muschietti was asked what other horror movie he would remake if he was given the opportunity. His answer… the 1981 horror classic, The Howling.

The Howling was directed by Joe Dante and the story is about a Los Angeles, TV journalist Karen White (Dee Wallace) who is traumatized after aiding the police in their arrest of a serial murderer. Her doctor ends up recommending that she attend an isolated psychiatric retreat. But while Karen is undergoing therapy, she learns that the residents turn out to be werewolves.

Bill Hader obviously threw his support behind Muschietti remaking the film. There is actually a Howling remake currently in development, but who knows, maybe the filmmaker will end up trying to do it if he gets the support.

While I like Muschietti’s work, I’d rather not see him direct another remake. If he wants to make a werewolf movie, I’m all for it, but it would be more exciting to see him create an original werewolf story and turn that into a movie.

What do you think about Muschietti wanting to remake The Howling?
