IT Director Andy Muschietti Will Helm a New Film Adaptation of H.G. Wells' THE TIME MACHINE

The director of Stephen King’s IT, Andy Muschietti, has just landed another big directing gig. It was recently announced that he would be directing the live-action film adaptation of Attack on Titan. Now we’ve learned that he will also take on a new film adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic novel The Time Machine.

The movie is set up at Warner Bros, Paramount Pictures and Appian Way with Leonardo DiCaprio producing. The filmmaker and and his sister, Barbara Muschietti, have already written a treatment for the film.

I love The Time Machine book! I guess it was only a matter of time before we saw another film adaptation. I’m a fan of the work that Muschietti did on IT, so of course I’m curious to see what his vision is for this classic story, which revolves around an inventor who hopes to alter the events of the past and travels 800,000 years into the future, where he finds humankind divided into warring races.

There was a film made back in 1960 and another one in 2002, which starred Guy Pearce. The producer of the 2002 film, Arnold Leibovit will also be an executive producer on this new film.

Muschietti recently wrapped production on It: Chapter 2. Not only is set to direct Attack on Titan but he’s also going to direct Robotech. These are all huge films and it will be interesting to see which one of them he ends up taking on first.
