IT FOLLOWS is Getting a Sequel With Original Star Maika Monroe and Director David Robert Mitchell

Writer and director David Robert Mitchell and actress Maika Monroe are teaming back up for a sequel to the 2014 horror film It Follows. The sequel is titled They Follow, and the film is set to start shooting in 2024.

Monroe will reprise her lead role of Jay Height from the first movie, which ended up building a decent-sized cult following. The film revolves around a young woman named Jay who, after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, finds herself plagued by terrifying visions and the inescapable sense that someone, or something, is following her.

This malevolent entity, which can appear as a friend, stranger, or loved one, relentlessly pursues its victim and can only be seen by those it's chasing. The curse is passed on through sexual encounters, and the only way for the afflicted to rid themselves of it is to pass it on to another person.

The story sees Jay and her friends try to understand and escape this entity, but it puts them through a terrifying ordeal. The film has been praised for its atmospheric tension and innovative concept.

There’s no information on how the sequel will continue that story, but it will be interesting to see what they’ve come up with. Hopefully, it just doesn’t rehash the same story that’s been told but offers something fresh and unique.

Did you like the first movie and are you excited to learn that a sequel is in development?
