It Looks Like Gamora Will Have a Larger Role in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3
When you think of your favorite parts of Guardians of the Galaxy, a lot of fans will say Groot, or Drax, or even Star-Lord. Gamora isn't necessarily one of the first characters that come to mind, which is too bad because in her own right, she is a total badass. But now we know that James Gunn has hinted that in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, her role might be even more badass.
As of now, very little is known about the film, but we are aware that Gunn is directing and writing the film. He has already begun writing the third film, and has been discussing it with Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana. While talking with USA Today he specifically mentioned that there are "some pretty intense conversations" going on with Zoe regarding Gamora's role in the film.
This is pretty exciting for many reasons. It gives us a hint of where the film's direction could be heading. The film's story will be set after Avengers: Infinity War and of all the characters in the Marvel Universe, Gamora is the most tied to Thanos. It makes me wonder if Thanos gets away at the end of the Infinity War and it's up to the Guardians to hunt him down.
Gamora's arc is such an interesting one because she is slowly learning what it is to have a family, as are all of the Guardians. If the first film is loners becoming a family, and the second film is a family learning how to remain a family, I wonder if the third will deal with a family learning to go their own separate ways again. While that's heartbreaking, it's also something that happens.
What do you think will happen? What sort of role will Gamora play? If Thanos really is taken care of by the end of Infinity War, then where does that put Gamora and what kind of story can be told?
