It Looks Like HBO is Moving Forward With TRUE DETECTIVE Season 3 and Mahershala Ali Could Star

If you're a fan of Nic Pizzolatto's HBO anthology series True Detective, you'll be happy to hear that it looks like the cable network is moving forward with a third season. I wasn't sure if the series would continue after Season 2 because it didn't too well with the critics and for the most part it didn't meet the expectations of most the fans. Yeah, it wasn't as good as Season 1, but I still liked it.

The last we heard about Season 3, HBO programming president Casey Bloys said, "We're open to someone else writing it with Nic supervising it; it's a really valuable franchise for us. It's not dead; I'm just not sure we have the right take for a third season — yet." We also heard that Deadwood creator David Milch was looking to come on board to help develop it. According to THR, the cable network is in talks with Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage, Moonlight) to star in whatever they are planning for Season 3.

Ali is an incredible actor and it'd be great if he actually did end up being a part of True Detective Season 3. There's obviously no information on what Season 3 would entail, but it'll be interesting to see what crazy gritty crime story they tell this time.
