It Looks Like That GODZILLA VS. KONG Trailer Didn't Shy Away From Teasing Mechagodzilla

Yesterday, Legendary Pictures released the first trailer for Godzilla Vs. Kong, and it looks like it’s going to be a super fun popcorn flick. You know exactly what you’re going to get from this film. You’re going to see it to watch Godzilla and King Kong fight, and it looks like they’re not going to be alone. The trailer teases Mechagodzilla.

After a lengthy conversation with some friends and breaking down the trailer and sending each other screenshots, there are two points in the trailer that tease Mechagodzilla. The first happens with the first ten seconds of the trailer with this:

The second tease happens later on with a computer screen in the background showing what looks to be Mechagodzilla specs with the phrase “Maximum Charge.”

If this is the case and Mechagodzilla goes out of control and is wreaking havoc, then it’s safe to assume that Godzilla and King Kong will team up at some point to battle the giant robot beast, and I’m totally cool with that! It’ll be cool when we get our first real look at Mechagodzilla and its design.

Adam Wingard (The Guest, You’re Next, Death Note) directed the film, and this is the synopsis that was released:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

As the gigantic Kong meets the unstoppable Godzilla, the world watches to see which one of them will become King of the Monsters.

The monsterverse crossover event film stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist), Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), Shun Oguri (Gintama), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Demian Bichir (The Nun), Van Marten (The Walking Dead), and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon).

Godzilla Vs. Kong is set to hit theaters and HBO Max simultaneously on March 26th.
