It Looks Like THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY Season 3 Is Moving Forward at Netflix

Netflix has yet to officially confirm the return of The Umbrella Academy for a third season, but it looks like Season 3 is moving forward.

A shooting schedule from leading industry source Production Weekly has revealed that The Umbrella Academy Season 3 will start shooting early next year. Production is said to start on February 1, 2021, and it will last for around six months.

If this is true it’s great news! This has been an extremely fun show to watch and with how Netflix has been canceling a lot of their shows after one or two seasons, it’s great to know that at least this one still has some life in it.

In Season 1: “On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his ‘children’ to save the world. But not everything went according to plan. In their teenage years, the family fractured and the team disbanded. Now, the six surviving thirty-something members reunite upon the news of Hargreeves’ passing. Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Vanya, and Number Five work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death. But the estranged family once again begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.”

In Season 2: “Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right – the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which – spoiler alert! – turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?). Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.”

The series is based on the Dark Horse Comics created and written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. The series stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min reprising their roles of the titular group of unlikely heroes from the first season. Other actors who have joined Season 2 include Ritu Arya, Marin Ireland, and Yusuf Gatewood.

I imagine that if this series is returning, Steve Blackman will be back as the showrunner. Hopefully, we get an official confirmation of Season 3 soon. Have you been enjoying The Umbrella Academy and would you like to see another season?
