It Looks Like Tony Stark Might Show Up in BLACK WIDOW
Over the weekend, a report broke that Robert Downey Jr. was reportedly reprising his role as Tony Stark in the upcoming Black Widow movie. The report originated from Deadline, with a little blurb that reads, “Downey will be seen in the role of Stark one more time, however, in the Marvel prequel Black Widow in May 2020.”
I didn’t think that this was really a surprise because Tony Stark was featured in the Black Widow trailers that screened at Comic-Con and D23. The scene featured was pulled from Captain America: Civil War, and as he’s talking to Black Widow at Avengers headquarters he says, “It must be hard to shake the double agent thing, huh? … They’re coming for you.” You can watch that scene below. Then the Marvel logo pops up and it cuts to Budapest in the Black Widow movie.
I don’t think Tony Stark will have a big role in the movie, but it seems like this scene does play a key role in kicking off the events of the film. This scene that was already shot for Civil War might be the only scene that Stark shows up in. I’d be surprised if the actor shot any new scenes for the film. Deadline didn’t offer any additional details.
Now, there’s always a chance that this scene was just something for the trailer and that it won’t be in the final cut of the film. It wouldn’t be the first time that Marvel has done that, but if they keep this scene in the movie, it would make sense.
What do you think? How do you think Stark will be utilized in Black Widow?
