It Looks Like Vin Diesel Might Be a Part of James Cameron's AVATAR Sequels
It looks like James Cameron’s Avatar sequels might have a surprise addition to the cast. The films have been in production for a very long time and a new video has been posted online by Vin Diesel from the set of the film with the director.
In the video Cameron says, “Okay, so here we are on the set of Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5. It’s top secret, it’s like the Manhattan Project.” He then joked, “My old buddy Vin, and we’re actually gonna give him the flashy thing from Men in Black when he leaves here so he has no memory whatsoever.”
Diesel added, “You never saw this. But I’ll tell you, it’s long overdue. There is one person in Hollywood I’ve always wanted to work with and learn from.” The actor also added the following caption with the video:
“And the journey continues... #Blessed #Grateful #Avatar”
This just seems like a big tease that Diesel might actually have worked with Cameron on his Avatar sequel in some capacity. While parts 2 and 3 have already been completed, there’s still work to do on parts 4 and 5 if Disney greenlights. Maybe Diesel will be joining the later two films? Maybe this is just a fanboy set visit!?
When previously talking about the film, producer Jon Landau opened up about the setting for the sequels, saying:
“As we’ve moved on with the sequels to Avatar we made a very conscious decision to stage the whole four sequels on Pandora. We don’t need to go to another world if we want water, we’re going to go to the oceans of Pandora.
”It’s a continuation of the same characters, but what happen when warriors that are willing to go on suicide charges, and leap off cliffs on to the back of big orange toruks, what happens when they grow up and have their own kids? It becomes a very different story. Now the kids are the risk-takers and the change-makers. So, it’s interesting, but it makes sense to me. Everybody’s either a parent, or they had parents at the very least, and if you look at the big successful franchises now, they’re pretty much uninterested in that.”
It was also explained that there will be different clans of Na’vi all over Pandora:
“We’re going to go to totally different environments, we’re going to meet different cultures. Just like our planet is as diverse culturally as we are environmentally. We want to introduce people to different cultures. In the first movie, we only met the Omaticaya clan, and they are the clan here allowing us to come to the Valley of Mo’ara. But as we venture out we’re going to different environments and different clans.”
I just can’t wait to see the new visual standard that James Cameron is going to set with these films.
The Avatar sequels star Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Sigourney Weaver, and Kate Winslet.
Avatar 2 opens December 18th, 2020; Avatar 3 on December 17th, 2021; Avatar 4 on December 20th, 2024; and Avatar 5 on December 19th, 2025.
