It Sounds Like Jim Carrey Is Retiring From Acting - "I Have Enough. I've Done Enough."

It looks like Jim Carrey is done with acting and ready to retire. He shared the news recently during an interview with Access, which you can watch below. He shared the news when he was told that Dolly Parton recently said that she wanted him to play her music partner Porter Wagoner. When Carrey responded, he said that he was retiring, but was also honored by her suggestion. Carrey said:

"Well, I'm retiring…Probably. I'm being fairly serious, yeah. It depends if the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink that says it's really going to be important for people to see. I might continue down the road, but I'm taking a break. I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas. I really love my spiritual life and I feel like… and this is something that you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists, 'I have enough. I've done enough. I am enough.'"

While he does leave a crack in the door open, Hollywood doesn’t really make a lot of films these days with scripts written in gold ink that are delivered by angels.

If Carrey really does retire at this point, he will end his incredible career by playing Dr. Robotnik in Sonic The Hedgehog 2, which has actually been a great role for him! I grew up enjoying the comedy and films of Jim Carrey. The guy made me laugh so damn hard over the years, especially in my teenage years.

I was a fan of this guy the moment he showed up on In Living Color as Fire Marshall Bill, and since then he’s been on a wild journey and has had a hell of a career. I really hope that he isn’t really retiring and that maybe he’s got a few more movies in him.

But, you know what? If the guy is happy and satisfied with his life and what he’s accomplished and he wants to retire… he’s earned it. I also have to say that I just love his attitude… “I have enough. I've done enough. I am enough.” That’s how I want to feel one day.
