It Sounds Like THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT Might End Up as a TV Series

The Blair Witch Project was a great horror film for its time and it was a ridiculously huge success. One of the most successful horror films in history. It definitely had one of the best movie marketing campaigns ever because it made people think that the events that took place in the movie were real. I wish the sequels could say the same, but unfortunately, they were a let-down.

The first sequel was called Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 and it was released in 2000. The other sequel was released in 2016 and it was simply called Blair Witch. I didn't care for either movie. They've had a hard time tapping into the magic that the first film had. The filmmakers just keep missing the mark.

Well, we may not have seen the last of The Blair Witch Project! According to co-creator Eduardo Sanchez, they are looking at the possibility of developing a TV series. While a guest on the Diminishing Returns podcast, Sanchez talked about the possible series, saying:

Sanchez: “For us, it’s a very natural thing to go and say “Hey, let’s do a frickin’ Blair Witch show and you can say it’s from the original creators and we can bring in a whole bunch of interesting directors to direct episodes”.

Diminishing Returns: Would you see that as an anthology thing with prequel episodes or would it all be found-footage stuff?

Sanchez: “Well, you know. I can’t really discuss. I think that the idea of a Blair Witch anthology has always been very – just a really interesting thing. You’re close. You’re in the ballpark. You know, and I think it might be one of those things that might be – you know? The more you think about it, you’re like “That might be the perfect… a TV show. You know?” So, we’ll see what happens, but I think that’s the next big thing for Blair Witch. Probably TV.”

There's no word on if this series would be a continuation of the films or a reboot. But we'll eventually find out if Lionsgate decides that they want to move forward with a series project.

I'd be up for a Blair Witch series if they actually did something interesting with it! If it's going to be more of the same of what we've already seen done previously, then there's no point.

What would you like to see from a Blair Witch series?
