It Sounds Like There's a Chance That TRON 3 Isn't Actually Dead?

A few months ago, fans were met with the incredibly sad news that Tron 3 was no longer in development. That was a dark day for me because I was really looking forward to it. Apparently, Tron Legacy star Garrett Hedlund hasn't been notified that the movie isn't happening. During an interview with Comicbook.com he was asked about the third chapter in the franchise, and this is what he said:

"I haven’t been told it’s totally dead. Ever since we did Legacy, we knew that to have another story follow it up, it had to be concrete and exciting. Disney needed to have the right story to go forward."

I know for a fact that a story everyone loved was completely nailed down. So that was never the issue. They just didn't have enough room in their release slate. Talking about the movie, Hedlund said:

"I think it was going to introduce some things that were as exciting as Legacy was and then some, though."

There's always a chance that the film could happen sometime in the near or far future. After all, look how long it took to get a sequel to Tron! The actor went on to say:

"Who knows, maybe it’ll be like Legacy was to the first Tron, it’ll be 30 years, and I’ll have my young Flynn CGI face, who knows? But they could do it anytime from now, and I would of course jump back in. Something like that could be quite fun, though!"

It'd be great if Disney hasn't really completely given up on the movie. The fact that Hedlund hasn't been told that the movie is totally dead is a positive sign. I'm not going to get my hopes up, though.
