IT TAKES TWO Nintendo Switch Review

It Takes Two was one of the most celebrated games of 2021. Between the strong comedy, amazing co-op, gameplay, and authentic story, it rightfully won many awards. Now, this game is available on the Nintendo Switch, which comes with various pros and cons.

It is always great to see fantastic, smaller games make it to other platforms. Personally, I like seeing that kind of success come to games that do truly innovate and create unique experiences. A Switch is a great place for It Takes Two to come, a console that strongly encourages many multiplayer games and more family-friendly vibes. As a quick recap, this game is a cooperative platforming game that requires players to communicate, work together, and solve various puzzles wall navigating a very relatable story of two people dealing with the complications of love. All of the parts of the game are here and players can enjoy it on their TVs via split screen, on handheld, or online. While playing split screen on the TV is definitely the best way to play this, the other ways work reasonably well.

The game runs fairly smoothly. Overall, it does not have the high-end detail of a gaming PC, gaming monitor, and super stable frame rates, but it is totally playable and can be lots of fun on the Switch. Players will run into some buggy lighting, awkward collision detection, and camera issues here and there. But none of those will take away from the overall experience, they just are more frequent and prevalent here on the Switch.

If you hadn’t had a chance to play this game, it is a pretty easy recommendation, but you want to have somebody that you can play it with. Somebody like your significant other, a good friend, or family member, or someone that can bask in the struggles, accomplishments, and hilarity of co-op gaming. While the quality of the game isn’t at its peak on the Switch, it retains the fantastic core gameplay and demonstrates why It Takes Two did so well last year.
