It's Looking Like Jake Johnson's Peter B. Parker May Be Returning to SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE 2
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is heading our way, and fans of the first film are getting excited for it. Into the Spider-Verse was such a great movie. It blew away all expectations, and instantly made itself into a fan-favorite Spider-Man flick. We haven’t heard much yet about the plot if the sequel, but we know that Phil Lord is returning to write, and Shameik Moore is returning as Miles Morales. Hailee Steinfeld is also reprising her role as Gwen Stacey, and Issa Rae has joined the cast, playing character Jessica Drew.
It is assumed that other characters will be back to reprise their roles as well, including Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker. While it hasn’t been confirmed, Johnson seems confident that his character will return. Johnson recently appeared on The Movie Dweeb‘s YouTube channel (via CB), and he confirmed he’s been working on a contract for the movie, adding, “I believe Peter B. Parker is making a return.”
He went on to say:
“All I know is that I heard nothing for the longest time and I was very sad. I really loved playing Peter B. Parker. I would like to know what happens with Peter B. Parker. I think the way his journey ended in the first movie was very open-ended,” Johnson admitted. “So, when I got word that they were working on a deal or figuring it all out, I thought I truly can’t wait to see what the writers came up with.”
I certainly hope to see Peter B. Parker in the sequel! Johnson was so perfectly cast in this role, and I can’t wait to see what happens to the character.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is currently in production, and is expected to hit theatres on October 7, 2022.
