It's Will Smith vs. The NFL in New Trailer For CONCUSSION
Here's the second full trailer for Concussion, the new movie that takes on the NFL by concentrating on the negative effects players can experience from repeated head trauma. It's a movie the NFL should not want people to see, but I think football has proven that it's too big to fail in this country.
Even if every single fan knew about the risks of injury and knew that by watching and supporting the league, they were encouraging early and unnecessary deaths, a large percentage of people would still watch football every Sunday. It's simply ingrained in the fabric of American culture (especially in the South, where I was born and raised), and it's a complicated issue that will hopefully help reach a larger audience with this movie. Who knows — maybe we'll be able to look back one day and point to Concussion as the impetus for real, worthwhile changes that were made to make the sport safer for its athletes.
Concussion premieres next week at the AFI FEST here in Los Angeles before coming to theaters on Christmas Day.
