J Scott Campbell Releases Some Art From New GEN13 Story

One of my favorite off-brand comics over the past few years has been Gen13. It has always had interesting characters and J Scott Campbell is one of my favorite artists. I don't know what it is about his work, but it just has this balance of old school pin-up art and gritty comic book style that can't be beat. And it never feels muddied up. It has such clean technique and you can almost always tell it's a J Scott Campbell piece. Which is why I'm so excited about the new Gen13 story drawn by J. Scott Campbell in the new hardcover collection, Wildstorm: A Celebration of 25 Years

J Scott Campbell himself posted a little bit of the story on his Facebook page, sharing an insight of what the story may be about. Gen13 is definitely a child of the 90's and early 2000's, but this comic shows a bit of what Gen13 would be in the modern time. Specifically with politics being so much more pertinent in the news and equality being an important message of the time.

With no speech bubbles put in, he manages to tell so much story. The design and feel of this one page is just awesome. It shows iconic Gen13 characters, Fairchild and Lynch, holding a conversation at what appears to be Gen13 headquarters. I can't wait to see the rest of the characters like Grunge and Roxy make their appearance. Sorry. I'll calm down. Gen13 is just a huge part of my childhood. As is most of J Scott Campbell's work. Evil Dead Comics, as well as many of his pieces on Marvel have all been great writing prompts for me. I don't really geek out over people that much, because they're just doing their job and I don't like showing vulnerability online, but I will take this one moment to do so. His work inspire me, like no artist can. In the world of the Comic Artists, he is definitely my favorite, and if you haven't, you should check out more of his work.

Wildstorm: A Celebration of 25 years goes on sale Oct. 25. It is definitely worth taking a look at. Check out the full page from J Scott Campbell's Facebook page below.
