Arkham Knight Season Pass Details Released...Including the Debut of Batgirl

Late last night (via Batman Arkham's Facebook Account), Rocksteady and WB Games revealed a little more information on their Season Pass for Arkham Knight. The Season Pass has been getting a lot of flak since its announcement due to its extreme vagueness, and it seems Rocksteady and WB were feeling some of that negative feedback. If you're going to make a second first impression, you can't really go wrong with Batgirl.

She looks freaking fantastic. Lots of cues from Gail Simone's latest run on the character, and that is by no means a bad thing.

While they have to keep some of the cards close to their chest, they did reveal some quality information here. You can read the entire post below, but here are the highlights.

There will be a prequel story campaign called "Batgirl: A Matter of Family." You will take control of Barbara (I assume, though you never know) in an entirely new location. It would be cool to see Bludhaven or Burnside represented in Rocksteady's universe, but I could really care less about locale. I'm geeking out a bit, sure, but it's Batgirl.

Also alluded to is more storyline campaign expansions for Batman himself, but they also highlight Gotham City Stories, a series of storyline extensions for the Bat-family (Nightwing, Robin, Catwoman, etc). It seems they took some of the feedback from Arkham City to heart, and instead of just challenge rooms we are actually getting substantial story content.

The most interesting/puzzling part of this comes in the form of custom racetracks. We already knew there were going to be various skins for the Batmobile, but I didn't realize the racing portion was going to be this extensive. It has some fun potential, and I can't wait to see what Rocksteady does with the iconic '60s Batman theme track, but I'll have to withhold judgement until I see it in action. At least it's interesting.

You can check out the full release below, but what do you think? I like the way they listened to the community on this and wish more companies would respond in this type of way to feedback. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Earlier this week, we announced the Season Pass for Batman: Arkham Knight. While the story of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Trilogy will come to a close on June 23rd, we are excited to continue telling stories and delivering more content to explore and play through in the 6 months following the game’s release. We’ll be building more narrative, more missions, more challenges and more characters and vehicles that we want players to experience, even though they didn’t fit into the storyline of Batman: Arkham Knight.

We’ve heard from our community that you want more information on what we’ll be delivering in the Season Pass. While we aren’t ready to unveil every aspect of the content we’ll be developing, we would like to share more detail now to give you a better sense of the scope of the Season Pass.

Batgirl: A Matter of Family
An all new prequel story expansion in an entirely new location where you play as Batgirl for the very first time in the Arkham series - check out the first render of Batgirl.

The Season of Infamy
Play as Batman in all new story missions featuring legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions and gameplay features.

Gotham City Stories
Play as Batman’s key allies in narrative missions extending their storylines, from both before and after the events in Batman: Arkham Knight.

Legendary Batmobiles with Themed Tracks
Drive the most iconic Batmobiles from Batman’s 75-year history, on custom-built race tracks, each themed to that Batmobile’s specific era. Every Batmobile will be drivable across every race track.

Crimefighter Challenge Maps
Engage in a series of new challenge maps utilizing the unique play styles of Batman and his allies.

Character Skins
A variety of skins from across the eras for Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman.

As we fully ramp up development on the Season Pass, we will be sharing even more details on each monthly content drop. We hope you enjoy playing Batman: Arkham Knight as much as we’ve enjoyed making it.
