Jack Nicholson Hasn't Made a Movie in 13 Years, So What's He Up To These Days?
Jack Nicholson hasn't made a movie in thirteen years, and while he hasn’t officially retired, it sounds like he is enjoying the retired life.
The last movie that Nicholson starred in was the 2010 rom-com How Do You Know. He’s been approached for projects over the years but he hasn’t taken on any of them. So, what’s the actor doing these days to fill his time? Sitting under trees and reading books.
According to the WTF With Marc Maron podcast, Nicholson just wants to relax. Maron said, in conversation with Lou Adler, who is a friend of Nicholson's:
"A friend of mine wanted to put him in a movie. And he had a conversation with him. But Jack says, 'I don't want to do it.' He goes, 'You know what I did today? I sat under a tree and I read a book.'
Adler went on to say:
"Jack's doing whatever he really wants to do. He wants to be quiet. He wants to eat what he wants, he wants to live the life he wants."
So, it sounds to me like he’s retired, but he’s still willing to talk to people about possible film projects, so he hasn’t completely closed himself off.
Nicholson is an icon in the world of cinema, renowned for his incredible acting talent and a career that has spanned several decades. He has the remarkable ability to embody a wide range of characters, from the charming and charismatic to the deeply disturbed and sinister.
Some of Jack Nicholson's most memorable and acclaimed performances include his role as Randle P. McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor. He also delivered an unforgettable performance as Jack Torrance in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980). He was also awesome as the Joker in Tim Burton's Batman (1989). Nicholson's career is filled with incredible performances and I hope we see him again on the big screen one day. But, if not, it’s completely understandable that he just wants to relax and read a book.
