JACK REACHER Could Have Starred Dwayne Johnson
Here's one of those "what if" scenarios that movie fans always like to talk about and debate. When a fan on Twitter lamented the fact that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wasn't playing the role of Jack Reacher in Paramount's film franchise, Johnson responded and said he actually tried to play the part a decade ago:
In Lee Child's books, Reacher is a hulking six feet, five inches tall. Sound about right for Johnson, eh? Tom Cruise is...not that tall. One of the biggest complaints I've seen about Cruise's casting is that he doesn't align with the book version of the character in the slightest, and it sounds like Johnson would have been a better physical match. Although, this was ten years ago, and at that point Johnson wasn't quite the "franchise Viagra" that he's known as today. I can see why the filmmakers chose to go with a true movie star like Cruise. But it's another one of those missed opportunities that fans will always wonder about: what would the Jack Reacher movies have been like if The Rock played the lead?
