Jackass Director to Take on MOTLEY CRUE Film

Movie Jeff Tremaine by Joey Paur

Jackass director Jeff Tremaine, who recently brought us Bad Grandpa, will direct a film that tells the story of the legendary '80s rock band Motley Crue. The movie is called Dirt and is based on the band’s autobiography The Dirt: Confessions Of The World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, which was written by members of the band — Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and Mick Mars -- along with Neil Strauss.

This will be the first narrative style film that Tremaine has directed, and according to Deadline, this is the logline, "Big hair, big sound, big money, big brawls, scandals and debauchery, and the inevitable big problems caused by drugs, drink, and living and breathing the rock-and-roll lifestyle as the quartet rose from playing local clubs on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip to touring the world as global rock stars."

It will be interesting to see how Tremaine does on a non-Jackass movie, but I'd like to think that he'll end up doing a great job with it. Here's a description from the book:

Motley Crue was the voice of a barely pubescent Generation X, the anointed high priests of backward-masking pentagram rock, pioneers of Hollywood glam, and the creators of MTV's first "power ballad." Their sex lives claimed celebrities from Heather Locklear to Pamela Anderson to Donna D'Errico. Their scuffles involved everyone from Axl Rose to 2LiveCrew. Their hobbies have included collecting automatic weapons, cultivating long arrest records, pushing the envelope of conceivable drug abuse, and dreaming up backstage antics that would make Ozzy Osbourne blanch with modesty.
