Jackie Chan Explains Why He Hasn't Made Any American Action Films in Awhile
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Jackie Chan star in an American action movie. He’s still hard at work making films, but the last one he made in America was the 2017 film The Foreigner, which was a great movie! So, why hasn’t Chan made a movie in the U.S. since?
Well, during a recent interview with filmelier (via Movie Web), Chan explained that he "never left America," he just couldn’t "find the right script."
The actor said that the movies he keeps being offered from Hollywood are pretty much all the same type of cop roles, and he's a lot more interested in taking on dramatic parts. Chan explains:
"I want to make sure that every year the audience can see so many different sides of Jackie Chan. I would like audiences to consider me as an actor who can do action, not just as an action star. I don't like to repeat myself."
That makes sense. I think Chan has proven that he has range as an actor, and hopefully, he starts to get offered roles from Hollywood that he’s interested in playing. I enjoy watching him in his films! The guy still has a huge fan base that would love to see him make American movies!
While we wait to see when that happens for him, he has a cool-looking movie coming with titled Iron Mask with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
