Jackie Chan in Talks to Return for New KARATE KID Movie at Sony

Last year, it was announced that Sony is coming out with a new film in The Karate Kid franchise. Now the word is that actor Jackie Chan is in talks to return for the film to play the character Mr. Han, who he portrayed in the 2010 remake/reboot.  Discussing Film reports that the 69-year-old martial arts legend will come aboard the project if negotiations are finalized.

Jonathan Entwistle is on board to direct the film, and he has previously directed and produced the series I Am Not Okay With This and The End of the F**ing World.

The Karate Kid film Chan starred in previously followed 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) who moves to China and finds himself like a fish out of water. When he begins to be bullied by the local kids, Mr. Han steps in to teach Dre in the art of Kung Fu.

There’s no word on whether this new film will see Smith return to the franchise, and we haven’t heard any solid story details, but it sounds like if Chan officially signs on, we will hear more soon.

Are you looking forward to the future of the Karate Kid films?
